… CPURC Elders: The following people are the serving CPURC elders: Abi Kingston, Anne Aaron, Lesley Trenkel (church secretary) and Mercy Mashem. The elders meeting, chaired by the minister, is the trustee body for the weekday and Sunday life of the church. Please feel free to talk to one of the elders about any aspect of the life of the church.

Hackney Extinction Rebellion (XR) is meeting weekly at the Round Chapel Old School Rooms on Monday evenings. The schedule is as follows:

7.30-8.30 – Induction for all new people joining the group

8.30pm – XR Hackney Meeting – all are welcome to join – bring vegan food / snacks to share if you wish

10.30pm – Finish and pub!

Centering Prayer: An Introductory Workshop – Led by Carole O’Reilly & Sebastian Harries. Centering Prayer is a way to consent in silence to the presence and action of God, to pray from the stillness of the heart without words. NEW! Bedfordshire, St Albans Diocese are hosting a training day for Mental Health Awareness for Churches. The day is open to all church members, lay and ordained. A training opportunity with ‘MIND in mid-Herts’ – who are innovators and experienced providers of Mental Health Services.

The session is aimed to support communities who would like to increase their awareness and understanding of mental health difficulties and how to better support others in their discovery towards positive mental health and well-being.

Upcoming event at Westminster College:

Living with Dementia – Creating Dementia inclusive churches and worship. To be held on November 2nd 2019 at a cost of £30 to include refreshments and a two course cooked lunch.  The day will aim to increase our understanding and awareness of Dementia in order to help churches respond positively both pastorally and in our worship life. The day will combine input, practical support and some workshop time. We are fortunate to have Rev Dr Rodger Charlton Professor of Undergraduate Primary Care Education at Leicester University Medical School and Rev Mhari McLintock the West Midlands Synod Advocate for Dementia Friendly Churches joining college staff to present the day
