Families Projects Volunteering

We need volunteers who would like to give a little of their time during this lockdown to help us to stay in touch by phone with families who normally come to activities in our building.

It’s a really great job and to some of the families, a lifeline.

Phone support volunteers will make regular calls to families to check that they are doing ok and that they are getting access to any support that they need. Volunteers are invited to come to an initial introductory zoom meeting with our Families Project manager to learn more about the role and to get making calls asap!

We will make sure that we keep the families we are in contact with safe and all volunteers will need a DBS check, which we will be able to help you with.

Whether you want to volunteer for the first time or your an old hand – we’d love to hear from you!

Adult Support Project Volunteering

We established our phone support project at the beginning of the first lockdown and continue to need volunteers who would like to help to support vulnerable adults in our community.

You will work with the Adult Support Manager to make calls to people who would normally access our Clapton Community Drop In to check that they are doing ok, make sure that they have adequate food and are supported with any other issues that they may have – often around housing, health and benefits.  Experienced volunteers deal with the more complicated issues and everyone is fully supported to deal with any issues that arise.

This is a very rewarding role and you can make a real difference to our users quality of life.

Food Delivery Volunteers

Since March we have been delivering food and prepared meals across East London to people who are unable to collect food bank parcels are self isolating or shielding.

We have now created the North Hackney Neighbourhood Alliance with the Boiler House in N16 and St Thomas’s in Stamford Hill.  This means that we can easily refer people who need support across the alliance so that we can focus on helping people closest to each organisation.

If you have a bike with panniers or a cargo bike or a car and time to help delivering meals in our neighbourhood then please get in touch.  We have a whattsap group where requests for help are posted a couple of times a week, delivery volunteers collect from the Round Chapel, Old School Rooms and deliver food in the local neighbourhood.
